Interpreters who work with NASLI are Independent Contractors
Our interpreters believe it is important to give back to the community. Many establish a pool of hours with which they are willing to donate their work annually. Those hours are individual to the interpreter and finite. When organizations and individuals have needs that qualify for pro bono services, NASLI is happy to help coordinate those services at no charge. Once pro bono services have been allocated for the year, they are no longer available and clients are welcome to continue requesting payable services.
What Types of Events and Organizations Might Qualify?
- Non-profit or informal structure organizations with no to minimal overall operating budget
- If the event or appointment is free to attend or at very low cost to the public and receives no outside reimbursement
- Provides aid to people or animals in acute need
- The organization provides pro bono services and has no budget for accessibility due to grant limitations
- If the bulk of the organization’s activities are aimed at protecting the most vulnerable/the environment/animals
- The organization is comprised solely of volunteers
- Situations not covered by the ADA law
- Funerals for local Deaf Community members
Deaf Service Users Can Also Request Services Directly
If you yourself are Deaf and you need interpreting for an event or appointment (where the provider is not obligated to provide interpreting themselves) you are welcome to call 928-288-5436 or email admin@northernarizonainterpreting.com to explain the situation and see if it qualifies.
How to Apply
If you believe you may qualify for pro bono services, please complete the following request form and provide sufficient justification for us to review your organization and request. We will notify you if you have been approved and there are interpreters available with hours not yet allocated.
